Matthias joined THUNDER FACTORY in 2008, bringing along a wealth of experience in public relations and strategic marketing. His professional career spans
working in agencies and in corporate settings with high-tech, consumer and financial companies.
Matthias joined from Context Marketing where he was working with diverse clients such as Adobe and the California Milk Advisory Board, advising them
on issues management. Previously, he was with Carmichael Lynch Spong where he led the expansion plans for the firm�s San Francisco office and technology
practice while working on the A.G. Edwards account.
Prior to that, he worked for more than 6 years at ZOOM Marketing, a Silicon Valley-based strategic marketing and positioning company. During that
tenure he advised high-tech companies on brand positioning and communications projects, including the development of message architectures,
identifying a unique differentiator, competitive positioning and related implementation work. As a PR account director at ZOOM, Matthias led
clients through product launches and assisted them with a full range of PR activities. He worked with many well-known brands, including Borland,
EDS, Novell, Palm, HP, TiVo, and Unisys in addition to many startups.
Earlier in his career, Matthias spent ten years in the corporate communications department of Swiss Bank Corporation, now UBS AG, working in New York
and Switzerland. His various roles included crisis communications, public relations, marketing communications and public affairs. He rose to become
director, head of media relations, and chief media spokesperson, the Americas.
Matthias has an M.A. in political sciences from Albert-Ludwigs University in Freiburg, Germany.
A Swiss-American, Matthias enjoys the many attractions that his new home, the Bay Area, has to offer. In his free time, he likes to work with glass doing glass fusion as a hobby.
